Green Smoothie Recipe

Spring is officially in full bloom and it's a great time to increase the green foods in your diet. Green vegetables and dark leafy greens help the liver function well. Here is a "Green Drink" I have been making for years that even the pickiest of eaters in my family love.

  • 2-3 large leaves of Kale ~I tend to use  Lacinato, but curly kale is also great!

  • 1/2 cup of Parsley ~ leaf + some stem

  • 1 Apple ~ quartered, deseeded, skin on

  • 1/4 Lemon, washed, deseeded, peel on

  • 1/3-1/2 cup Cashews, I usually just put in a big hand full

  • 1-2 Dates

*** Blend very well. Works best in a Vitamix or comparable blender. 

*** The dates help to sweeten it up a bit but if you don't have any on hand, raisins work well or another fruit like kiwi, pear or pineapple are wonderful. 

*** Makes enough for 2-3 glasses and lasts in the fridge for a couple of days.
